Field experience is required
Filtering is increasingly used as a technique for removing particles from all types of water flows.
Our filters are of robust construction with few moving parts ensuring a long product lifetime and low maintenance costs.
Hydrotech filter installations are a result of combined efforts by our highly qualified specialists. We produce filters in stainless steel (AISI 304), acid-proof steel (AISI 316L), and other special alloys.
Our patented design of filter elements enables minor repairs to be carried out without requiring large-scale or expensive service. All that is needed is to replace one filter element.
Engineering support to the customer planning
Water level overview
Through our computer-aided design we can quickly and efficiently transfer our designs to customers electronically, simplifying planning work.
We supply drawing of the filter and give you recommendations for installation with our suggestion in a CAD drawing or in PDF. If the filter is a part of a larger solution, we also offer to re-view the drawings made by our customers.
Technical FAQ (specific recommendations may vary from our FAQ)
Drumfilter or Discfilter?
Discfilters are the preferred choice when filtration at small microns are needed, like 30 micron and downwards. The filter area is very large and makes the Discfilter a superior choice when the filter area is the limiting factor.
At larger micron requirements, the Drumfilter offer large openings for water inlets and that way it is possible to use the filters optimal.
Water consumption?
Hydrotech filters can use the filtered water from main flow as rinse water (backwash). As an example, you can use the outlet water from a waste water application. The required rinse water is typically 0,05 to 3% of the flow, depending on solids contend in the water.
Solutions for reduction of rinse water consumption is possible by various techniques.
Energy consumption?
Hydrotech filters work with gravity and require only from 50 to 200 mm head loss in operation. You will need to rotate the centre drum and supply rinse water typically at 7,5 bar.
To give a perspective, Hydrotech discfilters use about 6 to 8 times less energy for the same applications compared with sand filters.
Which design version is best?
The design options can be divided into 2 groups: Tank version and Open version.
The tanks version is useful for: Quick installation, flexible location, retrofits projects, single filters, smaller filters and in case the required channels for the open version is difficult to construct.
The open versions do need to locate in a channel or basin. It has the strong side in the lower cost for the filter and unlimited flow to the filter. Here the tank version sometimes meets flow restrictions in the pipe connections to the filter.
Polyester or Stainless Steel filter cloth?
Hydrotech offer you both alternatives on almost any model. However, we recommend using polyester cloth as this material win on all points, except in case of very hot water. Polyester has better corrosion resistance, better strength, less string diameter and better elasticity module to regain original micron shape.
What is the Capacity?
Hydrotech has a large range of filters covering flow from 2 to < 1000 l/sec (< 3600 m3/h). However, we cannot offer you to list this essential data, as flow capacity is a function of many parameters. A part of the Hydrotech quality is the fact that we are able to offer you the correct filter for the specific task.
